Yoga

“I can’t do yoga. I’m too inflexible.”

This is a common comment I hear. If you are inflexible and suffering from restrictions in your body, this is why you should do yoga.

But yoga is more than just being able to move. It is experiencing the present moment and a connection between your body, your mind and your breath.

So often we go about life, just going through the motions, and not taking notice of a thing. The things we do become so routine, that we seem to be thinking of the next thing we have to do and not experiencing the present moment.

Through relaxation techniques, your mind and body connect to the breath and we start to experience how we are actually feeling. Things like the way the body moves with each breath we take, the way the clothes drape upon our skin, where we are holding tension and where we feel more relaxed and free.

We learn techniques to help still the mind and keep the monkey mind from taking over our thoughts.

Who Are Your Classes Best Suited for?

Classes are for every body. Young, old, male, female, short, tall, all body shapes and sizes and for all levels of experience, from beginner to experienced.

In every aspect of my business, everyone is accepted for who they are and where they are at in their wellness journey without any judgement. One of the more challenging things though, is to accept ourselves without judgement. Yoga helps us to experience our physical body movements, our thoughts, and allows us the space to do this without judgement, in your own time and in your own way.

Discover the Transformative Power of Yoga

Yoga helps to build strength and also stretch out those tight and restricted muscles as well as lower blood pressure, it can also raise the heart rate. Most of the class report that they get the best nights sleep after a class, as they have been able to empty the busy mind, leave behind all the worries and stresses of the week, and have the time and opportunity to fully relax and unwind from the hectic life we live.

Stress is one of the leading causes of disease in the body and yoga helps the mind and body to destress, lowering blood pressure, leading to a healthier outcome. Exercise helps to build our immune system, reduce some inflammation in the body and builds stamina.

The philosophy in yoga holds a special place with me, as this is where I find the power of the mind flexes its muscles.

In a tree pose, we balance on one leg, place one foot on the ankle, shin or inner thigh of the other leg, then raise the arms up over the head reaching tall. But the philosophy starts by finding a point to focus on and maintain your gaze there.

In life when we lose focus, things can go a bit skewiff. Then we find our roots and get ourselves grounded. When we know our roots and ground into what we really stand for, things will happen.

When we bring the foot up onto the other leg, this represents how we bend before we break, as in life we often bend a little to accommodate different circumstances. As we raise our arms over our head, this represents how we remain flexible with the winds of time and change, but always continue to grow.
